Flowers, leaves and fruit | Axillary clusters of 3 white,fluffy stamin-dominated flowers with flattened stalks occur from January to April. Fruit is a rounded cup-shaped capsule with 3-4 raised valves. Adult leaves are alternate, narrow and lanceolate or sickle shaped. Juvenile leaves are sessile, lanceolate and opposite. Bark is usually rough in a stocking at the base of the trunk, while smooth and white on the upper trunk and branches. Bark is shed in ribbons during the summer. |
Growing conditions | Prefers deep, moist and well-drained soils in a full-sun position. An important food source for Koalas. |
