Size and formA weeping tree 4-11m high and 3-6m wide.
Flowers, leaves and fruitThis plant is dioecious; male and female flowers occur on separate trees from March to December. Female flower is fluffy and red, while male flowers are brown. Fruit is a barrel-shaped large cone that splits to release winged seeds. Branchlets are long (to 40cm), furrowed and drooping with whorls of teeth. Bark is dark and furrowed.
Growing conditionsPrefers well-drained soils and a full-sun position. Suitable as a shade tree, windbreak or screen.
