Flowers, leaves and fruit | Yellow pea flowers have red markings in the centre. They occur on short stalks in groups of up to three. Brown and papery scales and bracts surround the flowers. Fruit is a flat, hairy and winged pod. Leaves are distinctive, being stiff, opposite and triangular or arrow shaped with sharp apex and lateral lobes. |
Growing conditions | Prefers drier conditions in well-drained soils and semi shade. Suitable for understorey planting. |
